General impression:
A very romantic movie. It doesn’t fall into vulgarity, has a skillfully spun story, and no strings attached to the viewer’s emotions – you’re either touched, or not. I was. It’s a movie about old decisions influencing the present, confining consequences, and stealing your heart’s desire. If you are familiar with other movies by Pedro Almodóvar, you can probably guess who dies in this one 🙂
Highlights:
It’s poetic, complete with sensitivity, beautiful imagery, and color.
Downside:
It is clearly made with passion, for the love of making (good) movies, not for the general public… But that’s not a downside in my book.
Would I see it again? – Yes
My Rating (1 to 10): 8.5
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
Take a peak at the vineyards of La Geria, Lanzarote, which you can also see in the movie: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/37/La_Geria_vines.jpg
