General impression:
A very good thriller, complete with emotion and a solid moral. I thought it wasn’t the usual mob movie, but a deeper one, suggestively illustrating the simple fact that the road to perdition leads nowhere else – dangerous choices in life come with tragic consequences. Good and bad seem to tangle, but in the end justice prevails; justice that made me cry.
Highlights:
Greatly acted and directed. Despite the mobsters, guns, and the psychopath assassin, this movie is about a father and his son. Too bad this father has to pay for his mistakes.
Downside:
A little too gloomy and cold – but it couldn’t have been otherwise, taking into consideration the subject. And, although the ending is just… you may want it to be different.
Would I see it again? – Yes, but in 10-15 years.
My Rating (1 to 10): 8
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
Prepare for a creepy Jude Law character.
