General impression:
Someone told me I wouldn’t like “Fight Club” because it’s full of gratuitous violence and illogical exaggerations. I watched it and wondered what the soap he was talking about. First of all, it’s a film that grabs your attention from the very beginning to the last frame. Secondly, it is logical(!) once you use your logic. Moreover, it’s equally bitter and funny; it’s so deep that we all get lost in the depth for a while. And, by the way, the violence is not gratuitous, it’s a way out. Edward Norton proves once again that the niche of weird characters is his playground, and gives a powerful performance. I could go on about this movie, but it will all come down to this little thing: I liked it a lot – it’s one of my favorite films.
Highlights:
Its well-defined identity gives it staying power. It’s one of those solid movies you remember, mostly because there are few chances it won’t make an impression on you – good or bad.
Downside:
It has left me with an odd feeling that reading Chuck Palahniuk’s novel might spoil most things I like about this movie (Fincher’s vision).
Would I see it again? – Yes
My Rating (1 to 10): 9.5
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
Watch this movie to find out why most soaps aren’t very good quality π
