Nothing new since July?! That is quite a while, but, to be honest and open, I hardly realized how long it’s been since my last post on “Back to Movies”.
Nonetheless, past is past, and the blog is back for a new period of movie talk 🙂

Starring: Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Mary Steenburgen, etc.For more information on “Step Brothers”, visit Wikipedia and/or IMDb
General impression:
This movie came out when MySpace was still king, and I remember seeing the ads while logging in. I did not see it then, but after a couple of years, and although I didn’t regret seeing it later, I did enjoy it. It’s expressive (maybe too expressive), one of Will Ferrell’s funniest movies. Just look at him – his unfunniness is pricelessly amusing, and his “step brother” is an equal match.
Highlights:
Some scenes (such as this one) are hilarious.
Downside:
It’s just entertaining, nothing more 🙂
Would I see it again? – Yes, when in the mood for this type of comedy
My Rating (1 to 10): 7
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
Don’t expect anything but pure silly gags that will most likely make you laugh without realizing why.

Year of release: 1961
Director: Blake Edwards
Writers: George Axelrod (screenplay); Truman Capote (novel)
Starring: Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, etc.For more information on “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, visit Wikipedia and/or IMDb
General impression:
Funny how this could be a silly movie, but isn’t. There is a certain charm about it, and it isn’t iconic for nothing. The story may not be realistic – not in the daily world of most people (then and now) – but a lot of people could recognize a few of their own frailties between the lines. For me, it was heart-melting – I just wanted to hug some sense into that girl :)).
Highlights:
It’s romantic.
Downside:
It’s kind of a movie for girls… (for example, Daniel said “meh” about it, and I had to watch it alone)
Would I see it again? – One themed movie day, yes
My Rating (1 to 10): 8
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
You’ll hear people talking about this movie, so watching it will give you an idea about the conversation.

Year of release: 2008
Director: Christine Jeffs
Writer: Megan Holley
Starring: Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Alan Arkin, etc.For more information on “Sunshine Cleaning”, visit Wikipedia and/or IMDb
General impression:
You watch it for a few minutes, and you can guess that it is a movie made by women – not in a bad sense. I liked it. It’s a nice movie about entrepreneurial issues in the real, beginner’s world. It deals with troubles any entrepreneur encounters, the mindset you need to enforce, the moods you have to control, the situations you need to act upon, the tasks you need to manage, associations, preconceptions and prejudices. It’s not a cinematographic masterpiece, but it has a good story, credible characters, and acting talent at work. I already appreciated Amy Adams; Emily Blunt was new to me. Now I like her too :). These two “sisters” represent two different attitudes in business. If you’ve gone through something similar, you may see deeper.
Highlights:
It recognizes the importance of people who care and believe in you.
Downside:
If the entrepreneurial spirit is not very strong in you, you may think it’s a bad, bland, ignorable movie.
Would I see it again? – Maybe, but not soon
My Rating (1 to 10): 7.5
Recommended: Yes, why not
Suggestion:
Try starting a business. It will reveal, change, and surprise you – to say the least 🙂

Year of release: 2002
Director: Fatih Akın
Writer: Ruth Toma
Starring: Barnaby Metschurat, Moritz Bleibtreu, Gigi Savoia, Antonella Attili, etc.For more information on “Solino”, visit Wikipedia and/or IMDb
General impression:
This is a movie from one of my favorite filmmakers, Fatih Akın. He deals a lot with issues such as roots, family, cultural differences in his films, and “Solino” is no exception. However, there is no Turk in this one, and they don’t speak Turkish, but Italian and German. The movie is about an Italian family that emigrates to Germany in the sixties. The cinema, the kids, the dusty Italian village reminded me a little of “Cinema Paradiso” – in a good way.
Highlights:
It’s warm 🙂
Downside:
At certain points, my attention tended to slip away.
Would I see it again? – Yes
My Rating (1 to 10): 8.5
Recommended: Yes
Suggestion:
